The Irving Professional Fire Fighters Association (IPFFA) has issued a strong condemnation of what they describe as a "false and deeply offensive" smear campaign, alleging that political block walkers are spreading lies that Irving firefighters support human trafficking.
According to the IPFFA, campaign materials for city council candidate Sergio Porres are being distributed by block walkers reportedly funded by West Texas billionaires Farris Wilks and Tim Dunn. Simultaneously, these individuals are allegedly spreading the false accusation that Irving firefighters support human trafficking.
"Let us be absolutely clear: this is a lie," the IPFFA stated in a press release. The association emphasized that Irving firefighters actively oppose human trafficking, receive ongoing training to recognize its signs, and coordinate with law enforcement to combat it. They highlighted that several Irving firefighters have successfully identified and aided victims, leading to arrests and the dismantling of criminal operations.
Brian Becker, President of the Irving Professional Fire Fighters Association, denounced the claims. "For anyone to suggest that Irving firefighters support human trafficking is not just false—it’s outrageous and dangerous," Becker said. "We risk our lives to protect this community, and many of our members have personally helped trafficking victims escape dangerous situations. This attack isn’t just on us—it’s on the truth and the safety of our city."
The IPFFA drew a parallel to a similar "shameful smear campaign" previously used against IPFFA-endorsed candidate David Pfaff, suggesting it is an attempt to "distract voters with slander rather than substance."
The Irving Professional Fire Fighters Association is urging anyone who has encountered individuals spreading these alleged lies to contact them at info@irvingfirefighters.org. The association stated they take these accusations seriously and have retained legal counsel to hold those responsible "accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
The IPFFA concluded by affirming its pride in serving the people of Irving and its commitment to "truth, integrity, and public safety—no matter what political games are being played."
