A road rage confrontation that began on southbound Interstate 35E near the University of North Texas ended in gunfire Friday afternoon near the intersection of Oak Drive and Country Lane in Hickory Creek.
At approximately 2:05 p.m. on June 6, 2025, Hickory Creek Police responded to reports of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and found an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They provided life-saving aid until medics transported her to Medical City Denton. She is currently listed in stable condition.
An adult male suspect was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. An adult female passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was also detained as a witness.
According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident that began on I-35E and escalated as the vehicles entered Hickory Creek. The investigation is ongoing, but police have assured the public that there is no further threat to community safety.
