Christopher Whittington, 31, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on July 7, 2025, at the Maison Blanche Apartments in South Abilene.
On Tuesday, July 9, at approximately 3:54 a.m., Whittington self-surrendered to the Irving Police Department. He was booked on a Taylor County warrant for Murder and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. The Abilene Police Department Major Crimes Bureau had been actively seeking Whittington following the issuance of the warrant.
The original incident occurred on Monday, July 7, around 5:30 p.m., when officers responded to a call about an injured subject in the 2800 block of Highland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying unresponsive in the street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police were directed to a nearby apartment believed to be connected to the victim.
The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
While officers were investigating the homicide, 20-year-old Josue Daniel Monroy was arrested at the same apartment complex in an unrelated incident. Monroy allegedly pulled a weapon and threatened another male. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, both second-degree felonies.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
