FORT WORTH, Texas — A road rage incident escalated into a fatal shooting Thursday afternoon in northwest Fort Worth, police said.
Officers were called around 2:35 p.m. April 30 to the 4600 block of the North Freeway service road after reports of a shooting. Preliminary information indicates two adult male drivers were involved in a confrontation while traveling northbound on Interstate 35.
Both drivers exited the freeway at Meacham Boulevard, where the situation continued at a traffic light. During the encounter, one of the drivers shot the other, according to police.
Authorities said the shooter called 911 and reported the incident.
Officers and Fort Worth Fire Department personnel arrived and provided medical aid. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene, and the shooter has been detained and is cooperating with investigators.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the identity of the deceased, along with the official cause and manner of death.
