A coordinated investigation between the Plano Police Department, Dallas Police Department, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and other federal agencies has led to the arrest of seven individuals tied to a series of mail thefts following burglaries at two Plano post offices.
On April 7, suspects accessed secured postal facility areas without forced entry and stole 16 Arrow keys, which allow access to numerous community mailboxes across the city. Surveillance footage showed two suspects using entry codes to move freely within the facilities.
U.S. Postal Inspector C. Carter tracked a stolen gas card to a black Dodge Journey in Irving. On May 1, a search warrant executed at a local motel with assistance from Plano detectives led to the recovery of nine Arrow keys and other stolen property. Four suspects—Randy Brown, Asia Jackson, Mark Hughes, and Glenn Villas—were arrested and now face federal charges related to mail theft.
Ongoing mail thefts in Plano later connected to a gray Toyota Prius and a Jeep Cherokee led investigators to Sanjay Gangar and Bryan Arellano. On May 28, detectives observed Gangar stealing mail from several complexes. He was found shortly afterward overdosing on fentanyl in a Costco parking lot. After being treated, he was taken into custody. A search of his vehicle uncovered a stolen Arrow key, stolen mail, identification cards, fentanyl, and a Glock pistol.
Gangar and Brown were later identified as the original burglary suspects seen in surveillance video. Arellano was also arrested for outstanding felony warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine additional recovered evidence.
