Felon Out on Bond Leads Irving, Lewisville Police on Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

Alexander Veracruz

A convicted felon out on bond for drug charges led police on a pursuit Sunday morning, July 13th, after officers in Irving tracked a stolen vehicle reported out of Dallas.

At approximately 10:17 a.m., Irving Police officers located the stolen vehicle within city limits and attempted to stop it. The driver fled north, prompting a pursuit that continued into Lewisville. Lewisville Police joined the chase after the suspect crossed into their jurisdiction.

The pursuit came to an end in the 700 block of East Valley Ridge Boulevard near Lewisville Lake, where the suspect stopped the vehicle but refused to exit. Officers established a perimeter and blocked East Valley Ridge Boulevard at North Kealy Avenue while negotiating with the driver.

After a brief standoff, officers successfully took the driver into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Alexander Veracruz. He was transported to the Irving Jail and booked at 1:58 p.m.

Veracruz is charged with Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle. At the time of the incident, he was out on bond following a June 18th arrest by Dallas Police on drug charges.

Veracruz is a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history. He served 18 months in jail in 2023 and 2024 for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1/1-B, and previously served a 3-year prison sentence starting in 2018 for Possession of Cocaine. His criminal record dates back to 2009, when he was arrested by Grand Prairie Police and sentenced to seven years of probation, which was revoked in 2018 for violations.
