On Monday, July 14th, at approximately 2:45 a.m., multiple 911 calls alerted authorities to a wrong-way driver traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 114 near Esters Boulevard.
Shortly after the initial reports, the wrong-way driver collided head-on with another vehicle traveling eastbound. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Irving Police shut down all eastbound lanes of SH-114 to investigate the crash, diverting traffic to the Freeport Parkway exit. The roadway was reopened at approximately 9:30 a.m.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased following next-of-kin notifications.
