CLEBURNE, TX – Kayla Dee Rubio, 37, of Cleburne, pleaded guilty on Thursday, July 17, 2025, to multiple charges, including Tampering with a Witness, and was sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Rubio also received concurrent sentences of 10 years for each of two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair, and 2 years for each of two counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child. All sentences will run concurrently, resulting in a total 40-year prison term.
At the time of the offenses, Kayla Rubio was married to Dustin Rubio, who was previously convicted and sentenced as part of the same comprehensive investigation.
The Cleburne Police Department Detectives led the investigation, with their professionalism and persistence noted as vital to bringing the case forward. The Johnson and Somervell County District Attorney's Office was also thanked for their diligent prosecution and strong partnership, as well as their commitment to seeking justice.
