Repeat Child Sex Offender Gets 35 Years in Fort Worth; Groomed Victim for 5 Years

James Jones

FORT WORTH, TX – A Tarrant County jury on Thursday, July 17, 2025, found James "Jimmy" Jones, 58, guilty of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. The Court stacked his sentences, resulting in a total of 35 years in prison.

According to court proceedings, Jones selected his victim five years before the eventual sexual assault, which occurred when the victim was 16 years old during the Christmas break in 2020.

During the punishment phase of the trial, the jury heard testimony from another victim whom Jones sexually assaulted in 1990 when that victim was 15. The jury also learned that Jones had previously sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy with special needs in 1993.

"He picks them, he grooms them, and then he sexually assaults them. That is how he operates," Assistant District Attorney Sydney Brock told the jury. "He not only grooms them, he grooms their environment."

The Fort Worth Police Department worked on the case.
