One Dead, Two Arrested After Shootout on Northwest Highway Near Irving Border

Arrested: Anthony Aguilera and Heriberto Aguilera

At around 4:25 a.m. on July 21, 2025, Dallas Police responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of West Northwest Highway, near the Irving city line.

According to the preliminary investigation, a disturbance occurred between two groups at the location. During the altercation, 23-year-old Anthony Cristobal retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and pointed it at 22-year-old Anthony Aguilera.

Luis Adolfo Mena, 26, a commissioned security guard contracted by a business at the scene, saw Cristobal with the weapon and gave loud verbal commands for him to drop it. While this was unfolding, Aguilera assaulted a member of Cristobal’s group.

Cristobal began shooting, prompting Mena to return fire. Simultaneously, 21-year-old Heriberto Aguilera also fired toward Cristobal. Cristobal was struck. Additional security guards provided aid until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting of Cristobal by Mena and Heriberto Aguilera will be referred to a Grand Jury under case number 103538-2025.

Anthony Aguilera was arrested for assaulting Cristobal and booked into the Dallas County Jail under case number 103644-2025.

Heriberto Aguilera was arrested and charged with a weapons violation, documented under case number 103751-2025.
