IRVING, TX — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – Dallas has arrested Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umaña, a 36-year-old illegal alien and citizen of El Salvador, in connection with the murder of his wife.
On July 17, 2025, at 5:55 p.m., Irving Police officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at Trinity View Park, located along Irving Boulevard near the Elm Fork Trinity River. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a deceased female in a brush-covered area near the entrance of the park. The preliminary investigation indicated the victim had been deceased for several days and had sustained injuries consistent with homicide.
Detectives made a tentative identification of the victim, who had previously been reported missing out of Dallas. Working with the Dallas Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, Irving detectives identified the suspect as Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umaña.
Hernandez-Umaña, a suspected member of the violent 18th Street gang in El Salvador, had been previously removed from the United States on May 25, 2014.
He was booked into the Irving Jail at 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, and charged with Murder. After booking, he was transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains in custody. His bond was set at $200,000, but he is currently being held on an immigration detainer due to his illegal status.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
