IRVING, TX – A man was arrested and charged with Arson after he allegedly attempted to set fire to his vehicle and a gas pump at a QuikTrip station on Thursday evening.
On July 31, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., an Irving Arson Investigator and police officers responded to a fire at the QuikTrip located at 2215 N. O’Connor Rd. A witness reported that a Black male, later identified as 46-year-old Lonl Michael Tigner, was "using the gas pump to set a fire" and was threatening to "blow it up."
Police located Tigner in the parking lot and detained him. A witness told the arson investigator that she saw Tigner attempting to ignite an item and his vehicle. An officer on the scene also observed a fire burning inside Tigner's vehicle, a blue 2024 Chevrolet Trax.
A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed fire debris, damaged components, and a lighter. The arson investigator, citing his training and experience, determined that the fire was intentionally started with an open-flame device.
Tigner was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Irving Jail. He is charged with Arson, a second-degree felony, for allegedly starting a fire with the intent to damage or destroy his vehicle on the property of another, and for being reckless about endangering the life and safety of others.
