Tarrant County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Raping Girlfriend During Argument

Defendant: Freddy Garcia

A Tarrant County jury has sentenced Freddy Garcia, 57, to life in prison after finding him guilty of Sexual Assault and Assault of a Family Member with a Prior Conviction for Family Violence. The trial began on August 4 and concluded with the guilty verdict and sentencing.

The case was initiated on April 9, 2024, when a woman in the River Oaks area reported a sexual assault. An investigation by the River Oaks Police Department revealed that Garcia, who was dating the victim, became angry and violently raped her after threatening to kill her and her family members.

The case was prosecuted by Tarrant County District Attorneys Jasmine Banks and Chase Payne. The District Attorney's Office was assisted by investigator Darla Dowell and victim coordinators Carrie Farley and Clara Salvatierra. The victim, despite the mental trauma she suffered, can now feel safer knowing the defendant will be behind bars for the rest of his life.
