Armed Suspect Shot by Irving Police After Refusing Orders

In the early hours of Saturday, August 9th, Irving police officers shot and injured an armed suspect who refused to comply with commands during an encounter in the 1400 block of N. Nursery Road.

Police say the incident began at 3:34 a.m. when they received a report of a suspicious person in the area. Officers met with the reporting party and began searching the area.  Eventually, they located 25-year-old Arlington Fuentes-Murillo, who was armed with a firearm.

According to officials, Fuentes-Murillo did not follow orders to drop the weapon, prompting one officer to discharge their duty weapon, striking him at least once. Officers administered life-saving measures before Irving Fire medics transported him to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Fuentes-Murillo has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.

The Irving Police Department is conducting both criminal and administrative investigations, while the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit is carrying out a separate review. Both investigations remain ongoing.
