DALLAS, TX – Jesse Medina, 42, was sentenced to 292 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl that caused the death of a 17-year-old boy, Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson announced.

Medina pled guilty in March 2025 to aiding and abetting the distribution of fentanyl. Court documents revealed that on January 30, 2024, Medina sold four fentanyl pills to co-defendant Connor Miller and the teenager at a location on Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas. The teen later ingested the drugs and died.

Evidence presented in court showed Medina was arrested the following day with 25 fentanyl pills and made statements indicating a lack of remorse for the teen’s death. Medina also has a history of prior convictions for controlled substance offenses and probation violations.

“Tough sentences are necessary for those defendants responsible for the tragic deaths resulting from fentanyl trafficking,” Larson said. DEA Dallas Acting Special Agent Joseph B. Tucker added that the verdict affirms that drug dealers will be held accountable for the deadly consequences of their actions.

Co-defendants Connor Miller and Tecose Dchaz Martin have also pled guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and are awaiting sentencing.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA Dallas Field Division and the Richardson Police Department, with assistance from multiple local and federal agencies, including the Dallas Police Department and FBI Cellular Analysis Survey Team. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney George Leal.
