COLLIN COUNTY, Texas—Christopher Clark Owen, 54, of Plano, has been found guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to an announcement from Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis.
The abuse came to light when the victim, then 7 years old, disclosed to their mother that Owen had been sexually abusing them for several years. The victim's mother reported the abuse to the Plano Police Department, and during a forensic interview, the child provided details of the abuse.
In an interview with Plano Detectives, Owen confessed to sexually abusing the victim from the age of one until they were six years old.
During the punishment phase of the trial, evidence was presented that revealed Owen had sexually abused two other children, establishing him as a "serial predator," according to a statement from the DA's office. Jurors also learned of a prior 2010 conviction in Johnson County for attempting to take a weapon from a police officer.
By law, a life sentence for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child carries no eligibility for parole.
District Attorney Greg Willis commended the victim's bravery and the work of law enforcement, stating, "Because of their bravery and law enforcement’s tireless work, the jury ensured he will spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance of parole.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Abbie Adkins and Anthony D’Amore.
