The Irving Police Department announced it will conduct a DWI Enforcement Initiative from Friday, August 29, through Monday, September 1, 2025, in conjunction with Labor Day. The campaign is part of a statewide effort to help #EndTheStreakTX and reduce daily roadway deaths in Texas.
Specially assigned DWI officers will focus on locating and arresting impaired drivers. Enforcement will be concentrated in high-risk areas and during peak times for impaired driving, when the likelihood of alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities is highest.
Police officials say the increased presence on the roads is meant both to deter dangerous behavior and to protect the community.
The Irving Police Department, along with the Texas Department of Transportation, is reminding residents to “Plan While You Can.” Alcohol and drugs impair judgment, reaction time, and decision-making, increasing the danger to everyone on the road.
Authorities encourage anyone planning to drink to arrange safe transportation through a taxi, rideshare service, public transportation, or a designated driver.
If you see someone driving in a manner that suggests impairment, and it is safe to do so, police urge you to call 9-1-1.
