DALLAS—A North Texas man who used a 10-year-old child to produce child pornography has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson announced.
Robert Owen Throgmorton, 63, pleaded guilty to production of child pornography in May 2025. On August 21, U.S. District Judge Jane Boyle sentenced him to 30 years, to be followed by a 10-year period of supervised release. Throgmorton will also be required to register as a sex offender. According to court records, he has several related state charges pending in Rockwall County.
"This crime shocks the conscience. This Office and our law enforcement partners will remain vigilant in bringing predators like the defendant to justice and in seeking the maximum punishment permitted by law," said U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Fate Police Department as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation.
FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock stated that the sentence "reflects the seriousness of his crime" and affirmed the FBI's commitment to protecting communities from child predators.
