On September 4, 2025, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office announced that 24-year-old Jeremiah Berry pled guilty to murder in connection with the February 21, 2023, shooting death of 34-year-old LeJarvis Lake.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours at the El Rancho Escondido Apartments in the 2800 block of Las Vegas Trail in Fort Worth. Berry shot Lake twice in the breezeway of the apartment complex, resulting in Lake’s death. Police were called to the scene following the shooting.
Berry was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The case was prosecuted by Deanna Franzen and Katherine Messina.
