On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 8:26 p.m., Mesquite police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2500 block of Helen Lane.
According to preliminary details, two juvenile males were at the location when two other juveniles started an altercation, assaulting one of them. The second juvenile fled home to get help, returning shortly after with his father and older brother.
When they confronted the suspects, one of the juveniles pulled out a firearm and shot the father in the shoulder. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived.
The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.
