A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) for his involvement in two separate shootings that occurred on consecutive nights in Corsicana. The shootings, which involved firearms modified to fire fully automatic, resulted in three individuals sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
The first incident occurred on January 31, 2025, when shots were fired from a white pickup truck at a residence on W. 11th Ave., injuring three people. Police recovered 21 shell casings and two bullets from a .40 caliber pistol.
The following night, February 1, 2025, the same house was targeted again, this time by individuals in a white Honda firing two fully automatic pistols. A police pursuit ensued when officers located the Honda, leading to the apprehension of two suspects. The third suspect, identified as Isaac Manuel Martinez, escaped on foot. Police recovered a 9mm pistol and a .45 caliber pistol, both modified for fully automatic fire, along with numerous shell casings and bullets.
Through witness interviews and suspect statements, detectives identified Martinez as a participant in both shootings. An investigation led authorities to residences in Kerens and Trinidad, where Martinez had connections. Surveillance and witness accounts, including statements from Martinez himself, placed him at the scene of both shootings and linked him to the vehicles involved.
Search warrants executed at the residences uncovered ammunition and spent .40 caliber casings, which were subsequently matched by an ATF lab to casings found at the crime scenes and the firearms seized. A receipt for ammunition purchased by a relative and provided to Martinez shortly before the shootings further solidified the evidence.
Martinez, who has prior weapons and drug charges, received a 12-year sentence. The District Attorney's office emphasized that while they often seek alternatives to felony convictions for teenage offenders, the severity of these crimes and the responsibility for community safety necessitated this outcome. The office expressed hope that this case serves as a cautionary example.
