FRISCO, Texas—Frisco Police officers shot and killed an armed individual on Thursday morning after he advanced toward them with a knife.
At approximately 9:50 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check in the 8000 block of McKinney Road for a man who was reportedly armed with a knife and had harmed himself.
Responding officers located the subject, identified as Logan Holliday, 31, in a wooded area on the north side of Frisco Commons Park. According to police, Holliday ignored verbal commands and continued to advance toward the officers with the knife. Despite the use of a "less lethal force option," Holliday did not stop, and officers fired their duty weapons.
Officers immediately administered lifesaving measures, but Holliday was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
In accordance with department policy, the Texas Rangers have been asked to investigate the incident. The Frisco Police Department will not be providing further updates at this time.
