Academy ISD Staffer Arrested on Charge of Displaying Harmful Material to a Minor

William Blackburn Sr

LITTLE RIVER-ACADEMY, Texas—An Academy Independent School District (ISD) support staff employee, who had recently been placed on administrative leave amid a sexual assault investigation, was arrested Monday on a charge of Display Harmful Material to a Minor.

On September 29, Bell County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) investigators presented evidence to Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman, who issued an arrest warrant for 46-year-old William “Will” Anthony Blackburn Sr.

Investigators, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Apprehension Team, located Blackburn in Killeen and arrested him without incident. He was booked into the Bell County Jail.

The arrest follows an ongoing investigation that began on Sunday after the BCSO was notified about an alleged sexual assault of a student. Academy ISD previously stated it was fully cooperating with law enforcement and that the employee, identified as a support staff member, was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division will be presenting information regarding this case, and the possible felony offenses under investigation, to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities urge anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the Bell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 254-933-5435 or Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477.
