Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 50 Years for Fatal Abuse of 4-Year-Old

Martin Gonzalez

Tarrant County, TX - On November 13, 2025, a Tarrant County jury found 34-year-old Martin Gonzalez guilty of aggravated assault of a family member causing serious bodily injury and injury to a child by omission. Gonzalez was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The case stems from a tragic incident on May 16, 2024, when Fort Worth police officers and paramedics responded to a report of an unresponsive 4-year-old girl, Arabella Nix. Despite immediate medical attention, Arabella was pronounced dead at the hospital less than an hour later.

Medical personnel discovered severe bruising and scars across the child’s body, as well as signs of emaciation. During the trial, the jury heard that Gonzalez repeatedly struck Arabella with a belt, causing life-threatening injuries.

The case was prosecuted by Sydney Brock and Megan Bradshaw, who emphasized the severity of the abuse and the need for accountability in protecting vulnerable children.
