Irving ISD has reached a major milestone, earning a perfect score of 100 on the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2024–2025 rating year. It’s the first time the district has received a flawless rating, building on years of “Superior” A scores.
The School FIRST program, created by the Texas Education Agency, reviews 21 indicators tied to a district’s financial health. Those indicators look at things like spending efficiency, timely reporting, fund balance strength, investment practices and long-term financial stability. The goal is to make sure districts handle public funds responsibly while supporting student achievement.
Superintendent Magda Hernández said the score reflects the work of the district’s financial team and leadership. She noted that strong financial management is central to the district’s mission and that earning a perfect rating shows the community that student needs guide every decision.
Chief Financial Officer Fernando Natividad, who presented the annual report to the Board of Trustees, said the achievement comes from years of teamwork and steady leadership. He credited Hernández’s direction and long-term strategic planning as key elements in helping the district reach this point.
Before this year’s perfect score, Irving ISD received “Superior” ratings for five straight years, scoring 98 twice and 96 twice. The district says it plans to maintain the same level of diligence and accountability moving forward.
