IRVING, Texas. Irving Independent School District has announced the appointment of five new campus principals, naming experienced educators to lead MacArthur High School, Nimitz High School, Bowie Middle School, Austin Middle School and T.J. Lee Elementary School.

District officials said the new principals bring extensive leadership experience and a shared commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence and supporting campus communities.

Trent Nickerson has been named principal of MacArthur High School. A 2005 MacArthur graduate, Nickerson returns to his alma mater after 14 years of service in Irving ISD. The district said he has experience leading both middle and high school campuses and brings a focus on continuous improvement and student success. Nickerson gets a fresh start after some controversy when he was the Principal at Nimitz High School.

Anabel Ibarra will serve as the new principal of Nimitz High School. Ibarra has more than 16 years of experience in public education, including the past five years as principal of Bowie Middle School. District leaders said she will continue serving the South Irving community while supporting student achievement.

Joshua Zamora has been appointed principal of Bowie Middle School. According to the district, Zamora brings more than a decade of experience in educational leadership and campus operations, with an emphasis on building relationships and helping students and staff succeed.

Norma N. Aragon has been selected as principal of Austin Middle School. With nearly 30 years in public education, Aragon brings experience in instructional leadership, teacher development and fostering student success.

Joe Estrada has been named principal of T.J. Lee Elementary School. A longtime Irving ISD educator, Estrada has served in a variety of district leadership roles and brings extensive experience in elementary education and supporting students, staff and families.

Irving ISD said the appointments reflect the district's continued commitment to placing experienced leaders on campuses to help students thrive and support academic success across the district.
