Man Accused of Breaking Into Irving Motel Rooms Arrested With Drugs, Stolen Items

Dwayne Alfred Wagner

Irving, Texas – On November 30, just before 11 p.m., an Irving Police officer responded to HomeTowne Studios located at 3440 W. Walnut Hill Lane after a disturbance was reported. A motel employee told the officer that an adult male in a red hoodie and jeans had been breaking into rooms on the property.

While checking the area, the officer spotted a man climbing through a hole in the back fence while carrying a backpack. The motel requested a criminal trespass warning, and assisting officers located the suspect at a nearby business and detained him.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Dwayne Alfred Wagner, admitted he had Xanax and marijuana on him. Officers recovered the narcotics, later measured at 0.8 grams of unpackaged Xanax and 1.2 grams of marijuana. Wagner also admitted he did not have a prescription for the Xanax and was arrested.

While Wagner was being transported to the Irving Jail, officers were dispatched to a reported burglary at room 103 of the same motel. During the follow-up investigation, officers spoke with a witness who had seen Wagner earlier inside room 204, which was supposed to be vacant. The witness said Wagner had a dark green bag and was rummaging through items on the bed.

After being read his Miranda rights, Wagner admitted breaking into room 204 and staying there illegally. Personal belongings belonging to the burglary victim from room 103 were found inside room 204, and the backpack Wagner had been carrying matched the description of the one stolen from the victim.

Wagner is charged with Burglary of a Habitation, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG3, and Possession of Marijuana.
