Irving Police Arrest Two After Burglary Spree, Vehicle Chase and Assault on Officer

Guillermo Bernal and Jennifer Reyes-Valtierra

In the early morning hours of November 28, Irving Police responded to an active burglary of a motor vehicle at the Agave Villas Apartments in the 1100 block of N. O’Connor Road near Irving High School. Callers reported that a man and woman were breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Guillermo Bernal sitting inside a white Dodge Ram that belonged to a resident and was being rifled through without permission. As officers approached and ordered him to stop, Bernal fled on foot before jumping into a Ford Explorer and speeding away.

While trying to escape, Bernal crashed into three parked vehicles inside the complex, damaging all three. He then exited the property and intentionally rammed his SUV into a marked Irving Police unit driven by Officer R. Lopez. The impact disabled Bernal’s vehicle, allowing officers to approach with commands and take him into custody.

A search following his arrest turned up methamphetamine. Detectives also recovered stolen property inside Bernal’s SUV that had been taken from the Ram truck.

Bernal’s record showed more than two prior burglary-of-vehicle convictions in Dallas County, which elevates his charges. He now faces:
• Burglary of Vehicle (two counts, enhanced)
• Collision Involving Damage to a Vehicle
• Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant
• Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Three probation violations

His bond was set at 26,000 dollars, but he remains held in the Dallas County Jail due to probation violation warrants. Records show he was placed on deferred probation in March 2024 for previous evading and drug cases from Garland Police.

A short time after Bernal’s arrest, officers located the female suspect at the apartment complex. She immediately identified Bernal as her boyfriend and admitted she was with him and aware of what he was doing. A witness also observed her walking around a separate vehicle, checking door handles.

She initially identified herself as “Terisita Reyes Jimeni” with a false date of birth, but fingerprint records confirmed she is Jennifer Reyes-Valtierra, who had active warrants out of Arlington.

Reyes-Valtierra was charged with:
• Burglary of Vehicles
• Failure to Identify as a Fugitive
• Possession of Fentanyl
• Two Dallas County Sheriff’s Office warrants (Theft of Property, Escape While in Custody)
• Arlington PD warrant (drug paraphernalia)

Her bond is set at 7,000 dollars, and she remains in the Dallas County Jail on holds for her outstanding warrants.
