An assault at the Burger King in Irving on Friday afternoon, November 28th, led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Ohio man who now faces multiple felony charges.
At around 3:45 p.m., Irving Police Officer Hawk was dispatched to a reported fight at the Burger King located at 4095 N. Beltline Road, near the intersection with West Walnut Hill Lane. Dispatch advised that a Black male wearing a white hoodie and jeans was seen assaulting another man.
Officer McLaren arrived first and spotted a man matching the description walking away from the restaurant. Police say she gave clear commands for him to stop, but he ran. She chased him toward the Hometown Studio motel at 3340 W. Walnut Hill Lane, where the suspect entered a family member’s motel room. Officers detained him moments later.
The suspect was identified as Natetrell Banks, originally from Ohio.
During a search, officers found 0.3 grams of Xanax on Banks, which he admitted he did not have a prescription for. Officer Moon later located a witness who provided cellphone video of the fight. According to police, the footage shows Banks punching the victim three times in the head, then taking a bag from him.
The victim, a Hispanic male, told officers that $340 had been stolen. Banks reportedly had the cash on him while fleeing but not when he was taken into custody, suggesting to officers that he tried to hide the money to hinder the investigation. Police also recovered a torn piece of a $20 bill from Banks that matched a piece the victim still had, down to the serial number.
Banks was arrested on charges of Robbery, Tampering with Evidence, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Possession of a Controlled Substance (PG3). He was booked into the Irving Jail and later transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains held on a total bond of $13,500.
According to jail records, Banks is set to turn 21 on December 8.
