WISE COUNTY, Texas - A 42-year-old Fort Worth man was taken into custody Thursday, January 15, 2026, after authorities say he made a threat to abduct and harm a juvenile relative who attends Paradise ISD.
According to the Wise County Sheriff's Office, the suspect made statements that led investigators to believe there was a potential threat involving a student. Out of an abundance of caution, deputies coordinated with the Texas Highway Patrol to increase law enforcement presence at all Paradise ISD campuses while the situation was assessed.
Officials emphasized that the suspect was never on any Paradise ISD campus. He was later located in Richardson, Texas, where he was arrested without incident. The suspect was identified as Ivan Hernandez-Vasquez, 42, and he is currently being held at the Wise County Jail on a charge of Terroristic Threat.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to Paradise ISD schools or the general public, and classes and school operations have continued as normal.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office credited the swift assistance of the Texas Highway Patrol and the Texas Rangers in helping safely resolve the incident.
