NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - North Richland Hills police arrested an adult male Saturday morning after a vehicle pursuit ended with an SUV catching fire along the NE Loop 820 frontage road at Rufe Snow Drive.
The incident occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on January 17th, when officers with the North Richland Hills Police Department brought the pursuit to an end at the intersection. As the vehicle, identified as a Ford Expedition, was attempting to turn southbound on Rufe Snow Dr, it caught fire and then came to a stop.
Police said the driver was able to quickly exit the burning SUV. Officers approached with weapons drawn and took the suspect into custody without further incident. North Richland Hills Fire Department crews responded and extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported. Charges against the suspect are pending, according to police.
Traffic delays were expected in the area as officers and fire crews worked to clear the scene.
North Richland Hills police thanked the Haltom City Police Department and the Watauga Police Department for their assistance during the pursuit.
