DALLAS, TX - Dallas police shot and wounded an armed man Saturday afternoon during a confrontation in the East Oak Cliff neighborhood.
According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:15 p.m. on January 17, 2026, to the 1200 block of Presidio Avenue after reports of a man firing a gun in the street.
When officers arrived, they observed a man armed with at least one firearm standing in the roadway. Officers confronted the suspect and issued loud, verbal commands for him to drop the gun. Police say the man did not comply. Officers then fired their weapons, striking the suspect at least once.
Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived on scene. The man was transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The shooting remains under active investigation. Dallas police said additional information will be released as it becomes available. The case is documented under report number 008318-2026.
