FORT WORTH, Texas - A Tarrant County jury has sentenced 24-year-old Alfred Jerome Williams to 60 years in prison for the murder of his four-month-old son, following a trial that concluded this week in Fort Worth.
The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, January 27, 2026, that the jury found Williams guilty after a murder trial that began on January 23. Williams has remained in custody at the Tarrant County Corrections Center since his arrest in February 2023, after a judge denied bond.
The case stems from an incident on February 16, 2023, when Fort Worth Police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at an apartment in south Fort Worth. Officers found the four-month-old boy suffering from severe blunt force injuries, including a brain bleed and a fractured spine. Despite medical intervention, the child did not survive.
Investigators determined that Williams was responsible for the child’s injuries. According to court records, Williams ultimately admitted to squeezing, shaking, and throwing his infant son. Evidence also showed that on the same day, Williams assaulted his pregnant girlfriend during a violent rage.
Court documents revealed a troubling history of family violence. In March 2022, Williams was arrested for assaulting a family member by strangulation. He appeared in court for that case on February 10, 2023, just eight days before his son was killed, and was found guilty and sentenced to probation under deferred adjudication.
The murder case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charlie Boulware and Steven Elliott. The investigation was handled by Tarrant County District Attorney Investigator Matt Hardy, with victim support provided by Victim Coordinator Carma Anderson.
With the jury’s verdict and sentence, Williams will spend decades behind bars for the killing of his child.
