Princeton Father Sentenced to Life for Abusing, Starving Six Young Children

Kevin Dixon

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — A Princeton man will spend the rest of his life in prison after admitting to repeatedly beating and starving his six young children.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced that 28-year-old Kevin Dixon was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

According to prosecutors, the abuse first drew attention in 2021 when the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services warned Dixon about inadequate living conditions and excessive discipline. In February 2025, DFPS again contacted the family and discovered five children, all under the age of 10, some as young as two, covered in marks and permanent scars. Authorities said the children appeared severely malnourished and weighed far less than normal for their ages.

Princeton police launched a criminal investigation. During forensic interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, the children described repeated physical abuse and extreme neglect. Investigators said Dixon deprived them of food and beat them with belts and cords. One child was reportedly beaten for taking a candy bar.

Detective Carolyn Crawford documented extensive scarring on all six children, including the two-year-old.

Dixon, who had a prior robbery conviction from 2015, faced enhanced punishment due to his criminal history. District Judge Kim Laseter sentenced him to life in prison on five counts related to physical abuse and 25 years on two counts related to malnourishment.

“This father brutally beat and starved his own young children—some toddlers—leaving permanent scars and lasting trauma. A tough sentence like life in prison is what it takes to protect vulnerable kids and ensure those who inflict such harm face full accountability. My office will always stand up for children who can’t defend themselves,” said Willis following the sentencing.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Jean-Marie Anderson and Wendy Correa prosecuted the case, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Greg Bowers.
