DALLAS — A Grand Prairie man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a child over a period of years.
43-year-old Abayomi Ayodeji Aipete was found guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14 on January 30, 2026. Judge Brandon Birmingham sentenced Aipete to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
According to prosecutors, the abuse occurred over an extended period when the victim was between six and eight years old. The child later disclosed the abuse while at school, prompting an investigation involving multiple agencies.
Medical evidence presented during trial corroborated the victim’s account. Personnel from Medical City Hospital Grand Prairie/Arlington, Children’s Medical Center, and Medical City Dallas Hospital testified regarding the abuse and medical findings. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) also participated in the investigation.
Records from both Arlington ISD and Fort Worth ISD were subpoenaed as part of the case.
Investigators said Aipete fled after learning law enforcement was investigating him and was later apprehended while attempting to cross the Canadian border. He was extradited back to Texas and booked into the Dallas County Jail on October 3, 2023, where he has remained in custody after bond was denied.
A Dallas County Grand Jury subsequently indicted Aipete, and a jury returned a guilty verdict following trial proceedings led by Lead Prosecutor Shanna Gosey and Second Chair Deborah Bankhead. The prosecution team also included DA Investigator Barry Maxwell and Victim Advocate Audri Graham. The case was investigated by the Grand Prairie Police Department.
Authorities confirmed Aipete is originally from Nigeria and is unlawfully present in the United States.
Officials emphasized that the life sentence reflects the severity and prolonged nature of the abuse and the lasting harm caused to the victim.
