DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas Police motorcycle officer was injured early Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash along North Stemmons Freeway. This is the second accident involving a Dallas PD motorcycle unit.
According to Dallas Police, officers responded at approximately 12:46 a.m. on March 2, 2026, to an assist officer call in the 2900 block of North Stemmons Freeway northbound after an on-duty motorcycle officer was involved in a traffic collision.
Preliminary information indicates the officer was struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle. After the officer was ejected, a second vehicle collided with the unattended motorcycle.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
“This crash serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly routine calls can turn dangerous for the men and women who serve our city,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. “Our motorcycle officer was assisting on a call when he was struck from behind and thrown from his motorcycle. We are thankful his injuries are not life-threatening, but we are determined to identify the driver responsible.”
Police are actively searching for the driver who fled the scene.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call (214) 373-TIPS, available 24 hours a day.
