BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - A Fort Worth man accused of committing a string of armed robberies has been arrested following a coordinated multi-state investigation.
Police say 21-year-old Kevin Ortiz is linked to five armed robberies that occurred across Fort Worth in February 2026. Investigators estimate the total amount stolen was just under $19,000.
The robberies took place at the following locations:
-
1211 W. Seminary Drive (Ark Grocer Gas Station)
-
2401 W. Seminary Drive (CD Kwik Stop #2 - Valero Gas Station)
-
3206 Deen Road (McCloud Food Store)
-
1066 Forest Park Boulevard (Mr. Jake's Gas Station)
-
4036 W. Vickery Boulevard (Quickway Shopping)
Detectives were able to connect the cases through several consistent patterns. Authorities said Ortiz wore distinctive clothing during the robberies and used a specific item to prop doors open, preventing them from locking while he was inside the businesses.
Investigators also determined Ortiz used a vehicle with removed license plates and frequently left the city, and sometimes the state, after committing the crimes.
Using intelligence gathered by the department’s Real Time Crime Center, detectives tracked Ortiz to Bridgeport, CT.
A Fort Worth detective, who is also assigned as a Task Force Officer, coordinated with the FBI’s Bridgeport office and traveled to Connecticut to assist in the operation.
On March 12, 2026, Ortiz was taken into custody by the FBI without incident.
Following the arrest, Fort Worth’s Criminal Tracking Unit executed a search warrant at Ortiz’s residence. Investigators say multiple items were recovered that further linked him to the robbery spree.
The case remains under investigation.
