IRVING, Texas — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on State Highway 183, near the N. Belt Line Rd exit, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 2:17 a.m. on March 29, 2026, in the 3400 block of East SH-183. Investigators said a vehicle traveling eastbound in the right lane struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
Officials said the driver did not see the pedestrian and was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in fatal injuries. The driver immediately stopped after the crash, and a second vehicle then struck the first vehicle from behind.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Irving Police officers closed the eastbound lanes of the highway for about four hours until around 6:30 am.
Investigators reported no signs of intoxication or excessive speed by either driver, and no criminal charges are expected.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified. Authorities said it remains unclear why the pedestrian was walking on the highway.
