CORSICANA, Texas — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in a series of drive-by shootings in Corsicana, according to court officials.
Nathan Perez was sentenced Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Navarro County Court at Law after being convicted of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
The charges stem from shootings that occurred on the nights of January 31 and February 1, 2025, when Perez and others fired at a home on West 11th Avenue using two fully automatic pistols. Two residents sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the shootings, Corsicana police located a vehicle matching the description provided by victims. The vehicle, driven by Gabriel Alvarez, fled when officers attempted to make contact, leading to a pursuit through a residential area where speeds exceeded 60 mph and the vehicle traveled through multiple yards.
Alvarez eventually stopped and fled on foot but was apprehended by officers. Perez also attempted to flee, discarding a fully automatic .45 caliber pistol before being captured.
During the investigation, a third suspect, Isaac Martinez, was later arrested after officers executed a search warrant at his residence and recovered a firearm and ammunition that ballistic testing linked to the shootings.
Authorities said Perez was already on probation at the time of the offenses for a prior aggravated assault case in 2023 involving threats with a firearm. His probation conditions prohibited firearm possession and association with individuals involved in criminal activity.
Before sentencing, Judge Amanda Putman noted Perez had not complied with probation conditions in prior cases and declined to grant further leniency.
Perez will be eligible for parole after serving half of his sentence.
