IRVING, Texas — A former Irving ISD bus driver assistant has been arrested on a child grooming charge after a juvenile reported inappropriate contact, according to police.
The Irving Independent School District notified the Irving Police Department on April 8, 2026, after a student reported to their parents that they had been inappropriately touched the previous day.
Police identified the suspect as 75-year-old Juan Gonzalez. Irving ISD fired him that same day.
The Irving Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit launched an investigation. Based on the victim’s outcry and additional electronic evidence, detectives obtained a warrant charging Gonzalez with child grooming.
Gonzalez was arrested on April 9th and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
During an interview with investigators, Gonzalez indicated there may be additional victims during the approximately three years he worked for Irving ISD, from February 2023 to April 2026.
Authorities said Gonzalez worked as a substitute assistant on various bus routes, assisting with student drop-off and pick-up.
Police are urging parents to speak with their children about appropriate and inappropriate contact to determine whether additional victims may exist.
