IRVING, Texas — What began as officers stopping to help a stranded motorist turned into the recovery of a stolen U-Haul van and the arrest of two suspects on theft and drug charges, according to Irving police.
The incident happened about 9:59 a.m. April 14, 2026, near Century Center Blvd and the Spur 482 service road in East Irving.
Police said officers on patrol saw a 2025 Ford Transit van with Arizona license plates stopped in the roadway with hazard lights activated and saw 35-year-old Blair Wallace Morgan pushing the vehicle while 38-year-old Stephanie Galaviz sat in the driver’s seat steering.
As officers stopped to assist, police said Morgan appeared nervous and told officers he did not need help.
During the encounter, one officer ran the vehicle through NCIC and received a stolen vehicle hit out of Irving, according to police.
Investigators determined the van had been reported stolen from the U-Haul at 2630 West Irving Boulevard.
Police said Galaviz had rented the van in February 2026 and failed to return it, despite disregarding calls and mail demanding its return.
The vehicle was valued at $30,000.
According to police, Morgan admitted he knew the van was stolen and told officers he had been driving it because Galaviz had a medical condition.
Galaviz also admitted she knew U-Haul had reported the vehicle stolen, according to investigators.
Both were arrested and taken to the Irving City Jail.
During Galaviz’s intake, detention officers found a small baggie of methamphetamine concealed under her right breast, police said.
The van was returned to a U-Haul employee.
Galaviz was charged with theft of property over $30,000 and possession of a controlled substance.
Morgan of Arlington was charged with theft of property over $30,000 and possession of marijuana.
