MCKINNEY, TX — A 41-year-old Allen man will spend five decades in prison after a digital forensic investigation uncovered a massive collection of illegal material on his personal devices. Carlos Wilfredo Cruz Rivera was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, for Possession of Child Pornography.
The sentence was announced by Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis following Rivera’s guilty plea to two first-degree felony charges.
Digital Investigation and Search Warrant
The case began in June 2025 when the Allen Police Department received seven "CyberTipline" reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The reports indicated that a user had uploaded approximately 30 files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to a cloud storage platform.
The North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force alerted local investigators, leading Detective William Brewer to secure administrative subpoenas and search warrants. On July 31, 2025, a raid was conducted at Rivera’s residence in Allen.
Admission and Forensic Evidence
During an interview with Detective Jared McConathy, Rivera initially denied any involvement. However, when confronted with the evidence gathered by the digital forensics team, he admitted to possessing the material.
A comprehensive forensic examination of his seized devices later revealed:
-
Volume: Approximately 1,800 photos and videos containing CSAM.
-
Severity: Multiple images depicted victims under the age of 10.
Sentencing and Prosecution
Judge Kimberly Laseter presided over the sentencing hearing, where she ordered Rivera to serve two 50-year sentences concurrently.
“This 50-year sentence ensures this man can never again prey on innocent children,” said District Attorney Greg Willis. “Every CyberTip matters. Thanks to Allen police and NCMEC, another predator is off our streets.”
The prosecution team included Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Ann Mathew and Katherine Burgess, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Stephanie Strickland.
