FORT WORTH, Texas — A Tarrant County jury has convicted a Grand Prairie man in a violent robbery-related assault and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
According to prosecutors, 25-year-old Jet Thach was found guilty of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
The attack occurred on December 5, 2022, in the West 7th Street area of Fort Worth. Authorities said the victim, who did not know Thach, was walking home when Thach and four co-defendants approached him and demanded money.
When the victim refused, all five men assaulted him, repeatedly striking and kicking him until he lost consciousness.
The victim was transported to a hospital with severe injuries, including a fractured ankle and significant swelling to his head and face.
During the punishment phase of the trial, jurors heard evidence of Thach’s prior aggravated robbery conviction, as well as his extensive criminal history and gang affiliation.
The Fort Worth Police Department investigated the case.
