IRVING, Texas — Fire crews responded to a fully involved house fire early Thursday morning in North Irving that spread to a neighboring home, prompting an extended firefighting operation and search efforts, according to the Irving Fire Department.

Units were dispatched at 4:17 a.m. to the 3400 block of Thrush Drive, where firefighters arrived to find a single-story residence heavily engulfed in flames with fire extending to nearby structures. Crews deployed a 2 1/2-inch handline and initially focused on protecting the adjacent home due to the intensity of the fire.

Firefighters were unable to immediately enter the primary residence because of heavy fire conditions, delaying the initial search. Crews forced entry into the neighboring home, extinguished fire extension and checked for additional spread. A permanent water supply was established as crews worked to bring the main structure under control.

After the fire was contained, primary and secondary searches of the home were conducted. A Search One K9 unit was requested to assist, and no alerts were reported during the search.

Heavy machinery was later used to remove debris as crews conducted a detailed search for two individuals who were initially unaccounted for. Officials said the search was organized and systematic.

No injuries were reported. One animal was found deceased.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
