DALLAS, Texas — A 47-year-old man died after being shot inside an apartment building elevator Monday night near Dallas Love Field, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Police said officers responded at approximately 9:40 p.m. on May 11, 2026, to a shooting call at the Providence at Mockingbird apartments in the 1800 block of West Mockingbird Lane.
When officers arrived, they found 47-year-old Bobby Mckinney suffering from a gunshot wound, investigators said.
Authorities said Mckinney was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to detectives, the shooting occurred inside an elevator within the apartment building.
Investigators said they have obtained surveillance footage as they work to identify a suspect and determine a motive in the case.
The investigation is being conducted under case number 067513-2026.
