DALLAS, Texas - Officers with the Dallas Police Department arrested a robbery suspect after a vehicle and foot pursuit on Monday, May 18, 2026, that ended on Interstate 30.
According to investigators, officers assigned to the department’s Project Safe Neighborhood unit located a suspect connected to an armed robbery that occurred around 11 a.m. on that Monday in the 13100 block of North Central Expressway.
Police said the suspect stole a victim’s cellphone and vehicle at gunpoint before later driving the stolen vehicle to the 13300 block of Amanda Lane.
Project Safe Neighborhood officers requested assistance from Air1 and additional patrol units to stop the vehicle, authorities said.
Investigators said the suspect eventually stopped on Interstate 30, exited the vehicle, and attempted to flee on foot.
Following a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Damarquis Cotton.
Police said Cotton was found in possession of the victim’s cellphone and an airsoft pistol loaded with real bullets.
Cotton is currently charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony.
Authorities said additional charges related to the robbery are expected as the investigation continues under case number 071074-2026.
