RICHARDSON, Texas - A suspect was arrested early Sunday morning after an alert detective interrupted an apparent burglary attempt at a restaurant in Richardson.
According to police, at approximately 1:45 a.m. on May 31, a detective working in the 500 block of West Arapaho Road heard the sound of breaking glass and immediately began investigating.
The detective discovered that a suspect had allegedly used a rock to shatter a restaurant window in an apparent attempt to break into the business.
When the suspect noticed the detective, he fled the area on foot.
Additional officers quickly responded and established a coordinated search, leading to the suspect's apprehension a short time later.
Authorities arrested the man on charges of Attempted Burglary and Evading Arrest. He was identified as Ricardo Lopez.
During the investigation, officers also discovered the suspect had outstanding warrants for Burglary, Failure to Identify, and Resisting Arrest.
Police credited the detective's vigilance and the rapid response of night shift officers for preventing the burglary and quickly taking the suspect into custody.
