FORT WORTH, Texas — A Tarrant County jury has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 45 years in prison after convicting him of evading arrest in a vehicle following a high-speed pursuit through Haltom City.
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced that Andrew Dickerman was found guilty of Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle for the November 2025 incident.
According to prosecutors, Haltom City police officers spotted Dickerman driving a stolen vehicle in November 2025 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
Instead of stopping, Dickerman accelerated and led officers on a high-speed pursuit, driving recklessly through the area before crashing into another vehicle. He then lost control of the stolen vehicle and struck a utility pole.
After the crash, Dickerman fled on foot into a nearby residential neighborhood.
Officers pursued him but temporarily lost sight of him. While attempting to hide, Dickerman entered a residential yard, where he was attacked by a pit bull.
Police said officers heard his screams, responded to the yard, and took him into custody.
Dickerman was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Nov. 18, 2025, and initially faced charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, and Collision Involving Damage to a Vehicle.
Following his conviction on the evading charge, Dickerman was sentenced to 45 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Claire Andrews and Sierra Woodard, with District Attorney Investigator Josh Neiswender assisting in the investigation.
