MCKINNEY, Texas. A McKinney man is facing a first-degree felony charge after police say he fired a shotgun toward a responding officer during a late-night disturbance at an apartment complex.
According to the McKinney Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. on July 18 to the Gray Branch Apartments, located at 1760 N. Ridge Road, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.
As officers arrived, investigators allege that 25-year-old Alexis Calderon fired a shotgun in the direction of one of the responding officers before retreating into an apartment.
Police established a perimeter around the apartment and began communicating with Calderon.
Authorities said Calderon surrendered a short time later without further incident.
Following the arrest, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the apartment. During the search, investigators recovered numerous firearms, ammunition and expended shotgun shell casings.
Calderon was booked into the Collin County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony.
No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The charge against Calderon is an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
