Irving-Based Nexstar Expands Local News With New Primetime Broadcasts in Dallas and Phoenix

IRVING, Texas - Irving-based Nexstar Media Group announced it will launch nightly primetime local newscasts in Dallas and Phoenix beginning in mid-August, expanding its local news programming into two of the nation's 12 largest television markets.

Nexstar, headquartered at 545 E. John Carpenter Freeway in Irving, said the new broadcasts will air seven days a week.

In Dallas, the company will air a 9 p.m. newscast on KDAF-TV (CW33) immediately following The CW Network's primetime programming. In Phoenix, a similar 9 p.m. newscast will air on KAZT-TV (CW7 Arizona), which Nexstar operates under a Time Brokerage Agreement.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar's broadcasting division, said the expansion will give viewers another source for local news and information.

"We're excited to launch daily primetime newscasts in two of the country's top-12 markets and provide viewers with a new outlet for news and information that didn't exist previously," Alford said.

Alford said the company remains committed to delivering fact-based local journalism, particularly as voters prepare for the upcoming midterm elections and seek reliable information about candidates and issues.

Nexstar Media Group is one of the nation's largest local television broadcasting companies, operating television stations and digital media platforms across the United States. The company said the new broadcasts are part of its continued investment in local news programming and community coverage.
